Brain storming: Look at these questions!

Hello friends

I am putting forward some questions for discussions, just for brainstorming, feel free to answer… whatever you feel.

  • Do you consider yourself to be a religious person?
  • What are the religious activities that you do alone?
  • Do you consider religion to be an important marker of your identity?
  • Do you think you are ‘secular’?
  • What does secularism mean to you?
  • So can you be both religious and secular?

  1. Hi Smriti,

First of all I would like to know that What do you mean by religious?

For me To be religious means to know the reality and accept the reality.

Kindly let me know your views on this. I will surely try to answer your questions.

    rgds.

  2. Dear Di

For me, being religious is, to have faith in some supreme power. And to do some ritual/activities to for that power.

    I would say..

    1) I am a religious person because I do fast some time, worship to God, celebrate religious festivals etc.

Secondly, religion is marker of identity, because I celebrate ‘HOLI,Deewali, etc.

‘Secularism’ for me, being neutral to other religion…

To comment on ‘being religious and secular together’ I would say, yes i am a secular because, I do respect to other religion & follow neutrality for all.

that all, I think for these issues…
    :) :) :)

  3. To be religious is to firmly believe in a religion, and the act therefore of paying great attention to its practices.
The system of religion is wholly set up to contain leaders and followers. Any concept of equality between the leaders and followers in any religion is out of the question which sets up a heirarchy like a ladder to the celestial realms.
    ON THE OTHER HAND,
Spirituality has to do with the study of the human and Divine spirit, truth, the creation, life, etc, without the presence of a religious organization.
Spiritualists embrace human potential that most religions definately do not. Like mediumship, psychic abilities and other types of phenomenon.if any religion like humanity occurs in this world then i consider myself as religious person if not then i m satisfied to be say myself spritual person.

  4. • Do you consider yourself to be a religious person?

    Yes, Because
    1. I believe in God. From my childhood I made understand that there is something that always helps us to understand what is right and what is wrong.
    2. I believe that there is some invisible source that inspires us to choose the right path.
    3. Creation and destruction of life is still a mystery and the faith in some supreme power makes my life comfortable.
    4. My religious believe takes away my fear, it gives me the strength.
    5. I believe that God is the key to our true humanity.
    6. I believe in ‘social justice’ and it is the most authentic prayer/worship.

    • What are the religious activities that you do alone?

    1. Pray for the strength so that I can do the right things with right intension.
    2. I pray for betterment and happiness of myself, my family, my friends, my near ones, my countrymen and for all human beings.
    3. Try to love all human beings.

    • Do you consider religion to be an important marker of your identity?

Yes, it’s the way I live; it’s the way I think, it the way I act. Mind u, it’s not irrational, it’s very much logical.

    • Do you think you are ‘secular’?
    Yes.

    • What does secularism mean to you?

To respect others values and believes provide it is just. All religions proclaim peace and justice. So there is nothing call better religion. All is well. The prayer made in mandir, masjid, gurudwara, girajaghar or any place reach to the one single point.

    • So can you be both religious and secular?

    Of course, yes.

Note: So many times religion is abused by many as an excuse for violence and conflicts. But this is just a manipulation. Religion is not (or should not be) about manipulating God’s to one own advantage. Religion must enable us to become authentic and fully-developed human beings. More important, the shaping purpose of true religion is not God, but the human being.

2)Everything I do is religious coz its all related to my work which is related to people which in turn is related to GOD

3)Yup again according to my viewpoint of religion only

    4)100%

5)According to me its the synonym of equality.Equality in every thing. Case creed sex religion everything
